MEGASCORE

Concept & design

Working with a live score app like Forza Football for many years I wanted to come up with a different solution to the same problem. Most football/livescore apps look and function quite similarly. So during our 10% work I came up with a new concept which focuses more on players and events instead of trying to tell all the stories at the same time. A lot of the young fans today care more about individual players rather than clubs so this experience would work towards that trend.

DOCUMENTATION

Problem

In a world with a lot of player interest its still difficult to follow individual players progress without distractions. In basically all livescore apps there is a lot of clutter in the way of this pursuit.

Target group

People who are interested in following the progress of specific football players. These could range from all kinds of levels of football interest, examples:
  • Player focused fans that care more about the individuals than the club.
  • Fans that wants to follow players that left their club.
  • Users that for various reasons want to follow player events (fantasy, betting, stats).

Solution

A very focused live score experience which highlights player events. Always keep the data relevant and presented in a clear way, no distractions. Only include the vital features needed to achieve the solution.

Design solution
The challenge was to create an app so intuitive you basically need no navigation indicators. The flow should be obvious and the functions focused over a few screens. As you see in the wireframes the entire app is basically accessible by simple swipes. The visual presentation is heavily reliant on typography and colours to present the vital content and guide with the context (using team colours), this makes for a very flexible and fast app.
